WHAT CAN I DO FOR YOU?
Bioinformatics support for
Dermatological Research?
Genomic sequence analysis, comparative genomics, protein structure
prediction and visualization and docking studies are fast becoming part of
everyday clinical research. However dermatologists may not have enough
expertise or training to use various bioinformatics tools and come to
meaningful conclusions based on the results. It is often difficult to get
professional help from a bioinformatician as most of them will be either
working on algorithmic bioinformatics, developing new software tools or as
part of drug discovery team of pharmaceutical companies. Besides it is
often difficult for a dermatologist to convey what he has in mind to a
professional bioinformatician. As a dermatologist and bioinformatician, I
may be able to help you if you have any need for support in your
dermatological research relating to computational biology in general and
bioinformatics in particular.
Preparing Clinical Trial
Protocol and SOP for Dermatological products?
Small drug companies especially in the middle east often lack the
necessary expertise and infrastructure to conduct even basic clinical
trials. Even the phase IV trials they conduct in this region to confirm
the safety of the products for the local population often have serious
flaws. Unfortunately drug companies use the results of such studies as
promotional material. There is no effective regulatory body in the region
to control this or ensure safety. If any of the drug companies in the
region need my service to prepare a CTP or SOP for their dermatological
products, I may be able to help.
Statistical Analysis of
Clinical Data?
With my basic training in biostatistics, I may be able to help you
with statistical analysis of your clinical data and clinical trials. I may
also be able to help you with study design and in deciding the sample size
needed for the study.
Data Mining for strategic
planning?
Electronic medical records often contain valuable information. This is
invaluable for small clinics and medical centres for practice monitoring
and strategic planning. I may be able to help by extracting useful
inference from their electronic medical records by using data mining
techniques.
Data Mining for Fraud
Detection in medical insurance claims?
With the rising cost of health care in the region, fraud in medical
insurance claims also have increased. Insurance companies assess each case
on a one to one basis and their medical team may not have enough expertise
in this field. Some even employ nurses for the same. Analysis of the
entire claims database by data mining tools can unearth broad trends which
points towards the possibility of fraud. This will help in identifying
suspects and I may be be of help in this regard.
How can you contact me?
Please write a short description of what you want me to do in the box
below and send it to me. I prefer all contact to be made through email
only. Since there are serious issues regarding data privacy and data
security, please contact me before sending me any data.
What are my limitations?
I am basically a practicing dermatologist with little spare time and
my expertise in the above mentioned fields is limited. Hence I can help
only individuals or small organizations for whom time is not of paramount
importance. I may also fail to complete a project after starting it.
How much do you have to pay
me?
For research related work if you think I have contributed
substantially to your research I would appreciate my inclusion as a
co-author for dermatological research. If my contribution is not
substantial you may acknowledge me in the article.
